Bonneville Salt Flat Tours
The Bonneville Salt Flat is among the greatest natural wonders in the country. The terrain is so flat that you can actually see the arc of Earth, and so barren that even the most basic life forms are unable to exist. Expanding beyond 30,000 acres, one could walks and see nothing but salt for days. A seemingly alien landscape, the Bonneville Salt Flats make the perfect location for a special trip!
The Bonneville Salt Flats offer more than just beautiful terrain though, as my tours take you sight seeing through historic sites. First, there are the caves to explore, along with the gorgeous and haunting view of the mountains. With a surface so flat, these peaks in the distance appear to be floating over the vast area!
In 1914, the first speed record attempts were made in the Bonneville Salt Flats. Due to its perfect flatness and climate, this became a tradition held to the present day. Many world records for speed have been made here, and my tours take you through the courses of the past where you can actually see where the tracks were made!
The Bonneville Salt Flats can be as dangerous as they are beautiful though. It is important to select an experienced and knowledgeable guide, such as myself. Temperatures are desert-like, reaching over 100 degrees during the day. If you are not well prepared and do not have a guide who knows the trails perfectly, you can be putting yourself in serious danger. At Intermountain Guide Service, I take customer safety as my biggest priority, always ensuring everyone has a fun and safe trip.
